– This is why kids lie

When your children start telling lies, the first thing you need to understand is why. In fact, there are developmental reasons and specific age groups that are more likely to lie to their parents. The lying typically begins from 6 to 10 years old and tends to diminish as kids grow older and start to grasp the consequences of lying.

 Kids aged up to 3 are just discovering the world so when they lie, it’s usually an honest mistake or an attempt to either protect themselves or mollify the adults around them.

 From 3 to 7 years old, children are still trying to understand the difference between reality and fantasy so their heads are still full of imaginary worlds.

 From 5 to 10, kids begin to understand the meaning of lying and they would do their best to avoid lies if their home, neighborhood, and school have been teaching them the importance of telling the truth.

 Kids aged over 10 can clearly understand what it means to lie and are perfectly aware of themselves when they lie or tell the truth.

With this in mind, let’s check out how to stop kids from lying.
