Oh, boy! This is a serious issue that virtually every child will participate in. It is alright to see a baby sucking their thumb, but to see a school child sucking their thumb—well, that’s just bad! Given its seriousness, therefore, it is essential for parents to make sure that they stop their children from sucking on their thumbs and/or other fingers. They tend to be stubborn and difficult children, but if you take the time, they will abandon this bad habit.
This, moreover, does not need any parenting classes to pull off. If your child has this habit, make sure that you monitor him or her closely and limit the time they’re allowed to suck on a finger (this allows for gradual thumb sucking prevention) and remember to never go into a conflict with your child about this habit.
