#10 – Allergic reaction to baby car seat

Some kids develop car seat dermatitis, which is an itchy red rash that usually shows up on the baby’s head, elbows, or the back of the legs. In most cases, this allergic reaction occurs when the weather is warmer and the child’s skin comes in contact with specific materials, like nylon, that baby car seats are normally covered with.

Red rashes are caused either by a foam used in nylon car seats or the flame retardant that manufacturers use to prevent fires.

If your car seat causes this allergic reaction in your baby, you can simply cover it with a cotton fabric to avoid contact with the seat’s materials.
