#6 – Lack of eye contact

This is a known early sign of autism, yet, we should never jump to conclusions based on one sign. When it comes to autism, the lack of eye contact is just one symptom among many others.

For instance, many babies would focus on the sound and just look over the face instead of looking into the eyes of other people. This is not autism. Besides, even doctors require a series of symptoms to make this diagnosis.

Autism symptoms typically include a lack of pointing at objects, difficulty expressing needs, speech problems, and a lack of eye contact. Yet, even with all these signs combined, doctors won’t rush a diagnosis because every child is unique. While some develop slowly, others do so at a faster rate.
