4. Board Games

“Fun games for kids at home” – this expression meant something different when you were growing up. For them, it means videogames; for you, it meant board games. Take a walk down memory lane and show your kids all of your favorite games growing up. It can be quite exciting for them to experience something new and different from what they are used to.

5. Time To Become A Chef

You finally have time alone with your kids at home, and you haven’t tried that cake recipe you have wanted to try for so long? Shame! Get them an apron, and let’s start cooking. The kitchen is one of the most amazing rooms in the house because it’s where the family gathers to eat and share. It can become even more special if you are preparing your meals together. Plus, you may be paving the way for your little one to become a chef someday!

6. Recreate The Outdoors

There are some things we have deemed as outdoor activities and outdoor toys, but that if we really think about it, it could be done and brought inside. Buy a kid’s slide, bring it to the living room and let the little ones slide away into a pile of pillows, for example – if you have space, of course!

7. Time To Move It, Move It!

What about using all this extra time to start that exercise routine you have been postponing for ages, and bringing the whole family into it? It doesn’t need to be military training; you can incorporate fun activities for kids in your exercise plan, like dancing. It is important to be active and to show your kids the importance of regular exercise. If you want something softer, you can always go for yoga or pilates. If it’s hard to get your kid’s interest, try to turn exercise time into a game.

8. Clean Up

Teaching kids how to clean up after themselves can be a real quest, but if you have time now, why not invest it? Creativity is everything! Set the alarm for 15 minutes and tell your kids to pick up their toys. If they take longer than 15 minutes, they lose, and you can ask them to try and do better the next day, to keep them challenged. It’s a great time to involve the whole family in household chores.
