#4 – Toys with small parts
As you’ll learn along the way, babies like to put all kinds of objects in their mouths. In 2010, half of the toy-related deaths were associated with young children swallowing balloons, small balls and parts of toys, making toys one of the most dangerous baby products.
The toy industry is subjected to heavy supervision, so as long as you check the appropriate age mentioned in the box when buying new toys and follow its instructions, your child is probably more than safe.
But sometimes you receive old toys from someone, without the appropriate age discriminated. That’s when you need to inspect the toy for any small parts that it has and may come out of it, as well as other dangers like batteries, sharp edges, etc.
