It is normal for anyone, including children, to want space and enjoy alone-time. However, this tends to happen from the age of 10 and not before.
When your child is younger they want to share, play and always be in the company of someone. In the elementary school phase, children learn the most, ask questions about everything and anything, and play all afternoon with their friends.
Bear in mind that not all children are the same; there is always a spoiled child, a sociable child, a loner, etc., but that does not mean that they should feel excluded. Talk to your child’s teacher to see if he or she detects anything unusual. If they detect deviant behavior, you should seek the help of a professional therapist.
