5. Wrapping babies in clothes whenever they have cold hands and feet

When a baby’s nose, palms, or feet aren’t quite warm, it doesn’t mean that the child is feeling cold or requires extra layers. It only indicates normal blood circulation and vascular tone, meaning it’s totally fine for these body parts to be less warm than the rest of the body. If the room’s temperature is anywhere between 68°F and 72°F, then children don’t need to wear gloves, socks, or hats. It’s even better to ditch these accessories to let the baby’s skin breathe.

Moreover, it’s more dangerous to overheat a child than to let them feel a little bit cold. Signs of overheating to watch out for include a wet neck and pink skin color.
