Experts advise against spoon-feeding children who are old enough to use a spoon by themselves.
According to studies, kids who are spoon-fed longer than they should have higher chances of developing weight problems later in life. What’s more, spoon-feeding leads to over-eating because it makes it very hard to tell when the child is full.
On the other hand, kids who use their own hands to hold a spoon and eat can process food at their own pace and have time to learn about different tastes, which helps them to develop a healthy relationship with food.
