Even if you’re using the dimmest light in your baby’s bedroom, leaving it on throughout the night can be harmful. In fact, the body produces the growth hormone better when children sleep in absolute darkness. However, the reason why parents use a night-light has nothing to do with this fact and more to do with their own comfort since the light prevents fear of darkness or makes it easier to change diapers.
Experts recommend people who can’t stop using the night-light to replace it with orange or red light, which doesn’t mess with the biological clock and doesn’t suppress the production of melatonin as much as green, white, and blue lights, thus making it easier to sleep well.
